About Us

Since 1941

Our story

Kerwin Baptist Church began in 1941 after a successful revival meeting led by Clifton Larrimore, Lewis Flynn, and Harry Seay. A group of believers met in October 1941 to form the church, with support from eight local Baptist congregations. It was officially organized on November 28, 1941, and the first building was constructed in early 1942 on land donated by Ezra Roberson. In 1961, the church relocated to its current site on Highway 66. Initially part of the Southern Baptist Convention, it became an independent Baptist church in 1963. Over 67 years, Kerwin Baptist Church grew from nine charter members to around 900, with a property value exceeding $4.5 million, and has seen many conversions and members enter full-time ministry. The church emphasizes traditional values, using the King James Bible and maintaining a loving, small-church atmosphere.
